Prana Living E.C.O. Yoga Mat Review
This Prana mat is touted for it toxic free manufacturing process and sustainability. It is made from Thermal Plastic Elastomer which is biodegradable.
I used this mat as a travel mat because I wanted a light weight mat that was toxin free.
More Mat Reviews:
Why would you want a Prana Living E.C.O. Mat?
- You want a non-rubber mat due to latex sensitivity.
- You want a lightweight mat.
- You want a mat that is value priced.
Prana mats offer several design and color options
They have several different color combinations with contrasting colors on each side. The bright contrasting colors always catch my eye in yoga classes. These are quite attractive.
Pros about owning a Prana Living Mat
These mats are PVC Free, Latex Free, and Chlorine Free. With 5 mm of thickness they offer a nice cushion for your knees.
Even though they are thick they are very light weight.
Cons about owning a Prana Living Mat
The Thermal Plastic Elastomer these mats are made of is sensitive to heat. This means that storing them in your hot car will negatively effect the mat. A rolled mat stored in a hot environment will take on a strong warp or fold and retain this even when you flatten it out. I know this because I unfortunately stored my rolled mat in my hot car.
It was a little annoying to me to have this 'mat hump' staying on my unfolded mat during my yoga classes. Mind you it did not get in my way too much or damage the mat material, making the mat less effective, but if a curly mat 'wave' would bother you then you might want to make sure you keep it out of the heat.
Summary
This is a very nice mat, lightweight and with plenty of cushion. The contrasting colors are nice looking and allow you to always know which side you put on the floor. This mat would work well as a travel mat since it is so light, but be careful about how you store it.
Where to Buy:
This mat may be hard to find at local retail and big box stores. To get the full selection of colors and designs shop online. I find Amazon's prices and selection to be good and you can also find it at other online yoga retailers.
