TEACHER'S TRAINING FOR RECUPERATIVE AND BEGINNING YOGA
This course intends to go beyond basic yoga instruction training and focus on a level of training that will give the students a capacity for creating appropriate recuperative and beginning level yoga classes. The trainee's will learn detailed movement based anatomy and kinesiology and will practice assessment techniques to test a muscles strength and length. Common recuperative problems will be discussed as well as strategies for creating classes appropriate for the recuperation needed. Each session will include participation in an ongoing recuperative level class so the trainees can observe and learn from real life examples. Strategies for teaching beginning level classes will also be taught as well as the fundamentals of proper nutrition for exercise.
The goal of this course is to offer the student the information they need to become an exceptional yoga instructor:
- ~ An instructor who can judge through observation what underlying imbalance is creating conflict within the body.
- ~ An instructor who can assess a person's physical complaints and offer an effective solution to enhance physical performance.
- ~ An instructor who can adapt yoga poses to any physical condition they encounter.
- ~ An instructor who is remembered for getting results.
The instruction offered in this course meets or exceeds the hours necessary for certification through yoga alliance (200 hr).
Each module may be taken separately by certified yoga instructors to be used as continuing education, or by anyone interested in learning these techniques.
Upon completing all portions of this course the trainee will be certified by this school as a recuperative yoga instructor.
Those who seek to take segments of the course instead of the entire teacher's training are welcome to do so but certification will be reserved for those completing the entire course.

The requirements to receive certification through this school as a Recuperative Yoga Instructor (level 1)
- Attendance of 11 modules offered 1 Saturday of each month
- Completion of homework assignments for each module
- Attendance of 1 yoga class per week for both instructors - Julie Byrd and Amy Garratt (104 classes total)
- Attendance in 2 seminars offered on various topics by Julie and Amy in 2008
- Completion of an exam, both practical and written that confirms the understanding of the course work taken
- Demonstration of skills learned through teaching at least 1 yoga class in the 4th quarter of the year

- Each module paid separately : $290.00
- Payment in advance of all modules : $2990.00
- Yoga classes paid singly : $15.00
- Block of 5 classes : $50.00
- Payment in advance for all 104 classes : $960.00
Class Location
Classes will meet at the Central Presbyterian Church 3788 Richmond in the Sunroom.
Please bring lunch, water and other snacks with you. There will be a break for lunch and several restaurants are in the area but in the essense of time it is suggested that lunch be brought. The facility includes a kitchen and refrigerator.
