This workshop focuses on the essentials to creating the strength and flexibility necessary for proper alignment in back extending poses. These simple to master techniques are great for all levels of ability from beginner to advanced and suitable for those who suffer from back ailments. This class will take you to a new level of understanding and achievement in your yoga practice. Handouts will be provided to help you retain your knowledge and add these skills into your yoga routines. Balancing PosesYoga has several poses that challenge balance. Good balance in yoga requires practice. This seminar is designed to enhance body balance through teaching the techniques of proper focus, foot posture, body alignment and movement created from the correct joint line. A step by step process will be learned to make even the most difficult balancing poses achievable. Beginners through advanced students will find this class beneficial to their practice. Handouts will be provided to help the student incorporate what they have learned into their routines. Core Alignment in Yoga PosesThe heart of yoga is in alignment. When we have perfect union with our body we know at all times exactly what posture every joint in our body is holding. Creating awareness allows us to fine tune our body postures and increase strength, grace and flexibility. This reduces wear on our joints and can delay or prevent the development of arthritis. This seminar focuses on the proper alignment for all yoga poses and teaches techniques of awareness that allows each student to shape their poses into a perfect posture for their development. Beginners to advanced practitioners will benefit from this seminar. Handouts will be provided that illustrate the concepts of alignment for every yoga pose. Hands and Feet in YogaThe hands and feet are a forgotten detail in most yoga. They are used in almost every yoga pose, but very little emphasis is placed on the proper alignment of hands and feet. Without precise alignment, the hand and the foot can interfere with the proper practice of almost any yoga posture. This seminar teaches easy to learn and simple to apply exercises that restore the proper alignment to hands and feet. These techniques can help to correct and enhance hand and foot function, delay or avoid arthritic changes and enhance the performance of other yoga poses. Handouts will be provided that detail these easy to use routines so they can be added to your daily yoga routines. All levels will benefit from this seminar. Recuperative techniques will be discussed for those suffering from ailments in the hands and feet. Hip OpenersTight hips can limit your yoga practice. The mastery of many yoga poses requires that the hips allow maximum range of motion. Creating the openness that hips need can be a challenging process. This workshop creates a routine to assist with hip strength and flexibility. It is useful for all levels of yoga from beginning to advanced practices and can be of great assistance to those with hip problems. The class builds upon itself and creates a structured process to allow hips a new level of function. Handouts will be provided to help you retain your knowledge of this routine so you can add this to your regular yoga workouts InversionsAn inverted pose is any pose that allows the head level to drop below the heart level. Inverted poses can be challenging but are also considered some of the most beneficial in yoga. Proper practice of these poses is essential to avoid negative influences in the body. This seminar teaches techniques for building the strength and proper form necessary to confidently and safely do inversions. Adaptations and modifications will be shared that can allow almost everyone to practice some form of inversion and reap the benefits without risk. All levels will enjoy this class. Handouts will be provided to remind participants of the techniques covered and allow them to incorporate these beneficial poses into their practice Muscle AssessmentMuscle assessment is a system devised to determine if a muscle or muscle group has appropriate length, appropriate strength, and appropriate action in order to enable a joint to move unimpeded and with stability throughout its entire range of motion. This seminar focuses on teaching the techniques of muscle assessment to be used in conjunction with recuperative or beginning level yoga instruction. Use of this technique can allow and instructor to create and exercise plan tailored to the individual needs of the student and help to resolve issues that are created by muscular imbalances. Neck and Shoulder FocusModern life places tremendous challenge on the shoulders and neck. Muscles can become unbalanced which leads to improper function, joint strain and eventually impairment. Balancing the muscles of the neck and shoulder can relieve discomfort and restore strength and flexibility. This workshop creates easy to use routines to help balance the neck and shoulder muscles and joints. It is very useful to those with shoulder and neck problems as well as those who wish to avoid these problems. Handouts will be provided to support the use of these routines in your regular practice The Nutrition of Exercise : Protein, Carbohydrates and FatThe nutritional needs created by exercise are not very well understood by most people. Inadequate nutrition can lead to poor muscle strength development, over-training and greater risk of injury. This workshop will give the participant information they can use to improve their nutritional health. It will also include tasty examples of foods that will provide the most nutritious and flavorful choices to enhance your exercise program. A thorough handout will be provided that will detail the information in this seminar and provide easy to make recipes and examples of how to apply the things you have learned to your life. Strengthening our Core MusclesAbdominal and back muscles create movement as well as provide stability for our body. Weakness in these muscles groups can cause a wide range of problems affecting our back, neck and posture. A strong core is essential for the expression of leg and arm strength. This seminar focuses on proper strengthening techniques for abdominal and back muscles. Easy to use exercises and routines will help develop the strength needed for many yoga poses as well as recuperate injury prone areas. Handouts will reinforce these new routines and help round out a yoga practice. All levels will benefit from this class and recuperative techniques will be discussed for those who suffer from neck and back issues. Sun SalutesSun salutes are invigorating and fun. They help warm up the body and provide an excellent mini-routine for those with limited time. This seminar explores many different styles of sun salutes, moon salutes, jumping forms and links. The techniques for each different version will be taught and an emphasis will be placed on proper alignment. This class is suitable for all levels. Modifications will be discussed to either decrease or increase the effort needed in each style. Handouts will be provided so the participant can take these routines back with them to enhance their yoga practice Twisting PosesTwists can be an invigorating and beneficial part of a yoga practice. The rotations produced help to stretch muscles and align joints. Twists can also be some of the more difficult poses to master, often because of pre-existing conditions we bring with us into yoga. This seminar explores all types of twists from the most basic to the most difficult. It teaches easy to employ techniques to develop the skill and muscular strength necessary to master twisting poses. This class will teach the essential actions to create in any twisting pose, as well as the actions to avoid. The class is designed for beginners to advanced practitioners and modifications will be explored so that all will be challenged at their appropriate level. Handouts will be provided to remind the students of the techniques of the class so they can incorporate them into their yoga practice. | ||
